Colmonell is situated in the picturesque Stinchar valley in rural South Ayrshire, South West Scotland, about 6 miles inland from the coast at Ballantrae.

There is a hotel, the Boar's Head, which has a public bar and restaurant. The nearest shop is in Ballantrae, or for more shops visit Girvan about 9 miles away.

It is not far to the sea at Ballantrae where there is a small harbour and lovely beaches. This is where the River Stinchar flows into the sea.

Directions

From the South:- Follow the M6 to Scotland and turn west on the A75 at Gretna. Take this road through Dumfries as far as Newton Stewart, then turn right on the A714 towards Girvan. About 6 miles after the village of Barrhill, turn left at Pinwherry on the B734. Colmonell is another 3 miles along this road.

From the North:- Follow the M77/A77 south from Glasgow, past Kilmarnock and Ayr and on to Girvan. At the roundabout south of Girvan, take the A714 up the hill towards Newton Stewart. About 6 miles along this road turn right on the B734 at the village of Pinwherry, and Colmonell is another 3 miles further on.
